Social Security Number (NUSS) in Valencia
Before your first payslip in Valencia, or before you register as autónomo, you need a Social Security number. It is also the gateway to the public health system. We apply for it for you, mostly online.

What it is
The Número de la Seguridad Social, known as NUSS, is assigned by the Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social and stays with you for life. Employers in Valencia cannot register you without it, you need it to work as autónomo, and it is part of the route to your health card (SIP card) from the Valencian health service.
Today most applications go through Import@ss, the online portal of the Social Security, using form TA.1. Depending on your situation, the process can be completed without visiting an office.
Who it is for

Frequently asked questions
My employer says they will apply. Do I need you?
If your employer handles it, you do not need us for the number. We help people who must apply themselves, or when the employer's request has stalled.
Can I get a NUSS before moving to Valencia?
It is usually requested once you have a NIE and a reason to need it, such as a job. We check your timing.
Is the NUSS the same as my health card?
No. The NUSS is your Social Security number. The SIP card is issued by the Valencian health service once you are entitled to public healthcare.
Does the number change if I move to another region?
No. It is valid throughout Spain for life.
You get a written quote with a closed fee before you pay anything. Official fees are listed separately.
